| Abstract
The water industry worldwide faces increasing
challenges
in
management,
ensuring
operational
sustainable
efficiency,
water
and
infrastructure resilience. This presentation explores
how advanced data analytics, numerical modelling,
and bespoke software development can transform
these challenges into actionable solutions. Drawing
from over a decade of experience, Ehsan Kazemi
will present case studies that demonstrate the
development and application of innovative tools
tailored to industry needs. Key highlights include the
deployment of predictive models for failure risk in
water distribution systems, automated detection of
sewer defects, and the integration of GIS-based tools
for efficient water quality and environmental
management. These efforts not only optimise asset
management but also enhance decision-making
processes for stakeholders. Emphasising the
importance of bridging theoretical models and real
world applications, the presentation will discuss the
integration of cutting-edge technologies with domain
expertise. Attendees will gain insights into practical
methodologies, the value of cross-disciplinary
collaboration, and the tangible impacts of these
solutions on the industry’s evolving landscape. Join
us to explore the intersection of science, technology,
and application, shaping the future of water
management

14 years of expertise in numerical modelling of flow
hydrodynamics and seven years of experience
applying data analytics to enhance water system
resilience. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering
Water Engineering from the University of Sheffield,
where he was awarded the prestigious Marie Curie
Fellowship. Ehsan specialises in computational fluid
dynamics, AI-driven data analysis, and software
development, with extensive experience utilising
programming languages such as Python, MATLAB,
and C# to develop GIS tools and water quality
analysis software. Currently a Senior Consultant at
Intertek Metoc, and previously as a Research
Associate at the University of Sheffield, Ehsan has
led multiple projects with the water industry and
developed
innovative
solutions
for
water
infrastructure, including AI-based flood warning
systems, urban drainage management models, and
water quality assessment tools. His collaborative
research spans academia and industry across the UK
and EU. An active contributor to his field, he has
authored over 15 peer-reviewed journal papers,
served as a guest editor, and developed open-source
software for water systems resilience
